The First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University

Founded in 1956, the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University is a comprehensive upper first-class hospital, which provides medical treatment, education, research and rehabilitation. It is one of the first such hospitals in China and the very first in Shaanxi Province. It is listed in the first group of “100 Best Hospitals” in China. The hospital covers an area of 148,000 square meters and houses 2,560 beds. With outstanding facilities and advanced equipment, the hospital ranks among the most advanced in northwestern China in terms of medical treatment and service.

The hospital boasts a complete range of disciplines. Its department of urologic surgery, including kidney transplantation, has been designated a national key discipline approved by China's Ministry of Education. Its dermatology department is a national key nurturing discipline approved by the Ministry of Education. Its obstetrics, intensive care medicine, vasculocardiology, general surgery, urologic surgery, respiratory medicine, nephrology, oncology, medical imaging, epidemiology, orthopedics, medical laboratory, organ transplantation and geriatrics departments are national key nurturing clinical specialties. In addition, its traditional Chinese medicine is a key nurturing specialty approved by the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the 12th Five-Year Plan period.

The hospital focuses on the development of specialties and has made distinct advantages in the application of advanced technology in liver transplantation, kidney transplantation, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, coronary artery bypass surgery, and minimally invasive surgery for congenital heart diseases. It has also made significant advances in medical and surgical treatment of tumors, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, metabolic diseases and other complex diseases. Its ability to successfully diagnose and treat challenging and highly complex diseases is among the top in China. The hospital is a leading, nationally recognized demonstration unit for DCD organ transplantation. It provides a highly sophisticated level of care and a high volume of liver and kidney transplantations, which ranks among the top in China and represents the forefront of such care in western China.
